💡 Frame Selection Guide & Advisory
Choosing the right frame is just as important as selecting the right lens. Your frame size and style directly impact visual comfort and the final appearance of your finished glasses.
1. Frame Fit: Finding Your Perfect Size
Understanding the three key measurements ensures an optimal fit, preventing slippage and pressure points. This Ultem frame is designed as a Unisex, medium size (50–18–138).
-
Lens Width (50): This is the horizontal width of one lens. It impacts the total width of the glasses and should align comfortably with your face width.
-
Bridge Size (18): This is the distance between the two lenses, resting on your nose. It is critical for comfort, as a poor fit causes slippage or uncomfortable pinching.
-
Temple Length (138): This is the length of the arms. It ensures the frame hooks comfortably and securely behind the ears.
-
Size Note for Customers: Customers should compare these measurements (50–18–138) to a pair of glasses they currently wear comfortably. Men with larger faces or women who prefer an oversized look may require a lens width of 52mm or more.
2. Key Considerations for Your Frame Choice
-
Lens Thickness Advisory: For high prescriptions (especially above +/-4.0D), we strongly advise choosing smaller, rounder frames. This strategy minimizes the visible edge thickness of the lens, which is particularly important for negative (-) prescriptions (myopia). A large frame used with a high prescription will result in significantly thicker and heavier lenses.
-
Prescription Type: If you are ordering progressive lenses, ensure the frame height is sufficient for the lens to successfully accommodate both reading and distance correction zones.
-
Visual Centration: The selected frame size should allow your pupils to be positioned near the center of the lens. Poor centration within a frame can lead to visual distortion and discomfort.
